Early on we recognized that it would be much easier in the long run if we developed a template that could be customized, bus still kept the same style as the rest of our print media. To develop the style we used Lucidpress to concept and create many of the early drafts of these fact sheets.
For the font we chose a variation of Lato Light, which gives CHF an updated, but classy look. The colors we chose a #1a4982 to represent the Department of the Interior and #00624f for the Central Hazardous Materials Fund. Both colors are strong colors to represent the strength of DOI and CHF. The colors and orientation are also representative of the land and sky to remind the reader of why we are here.
The header evolved as a series of overlapping triangles representing the many partners and movers that are required to make our projects succeed. The header is made up of three triangles and and a quadrilateral, all of which are adjustable to allow for varying amounts of content. Each triangle (#ffffff, #5ea865, #3a693f) has varying opacity levels allowing for the effect of overlapping partnership roles to appear. The green and brown colors are very representative of the lands we protect and compliment the type of CHF and DOI.
Since every project has multiple players and bureaus involved, we wanted to make sure that we could make them easily interchangeable. Every project has the DOI logomark and which bureau has the lead on the site.

Other than that we try to focus on the history, geography, access, wildlife, contamination, cleanup, communities, current status, and successes of a site.
